The harassment-and-abuse@work diagnostic enables organisations to surface real experiences and risks related to bullying, harassment and abuse — both in-person and online. The goal is to actively create and maintain a workplace that is safe, inclusive and respectful for everyone.

Indicators Measured

Bullying and Intimidation

Assesses the prevalence and awareness of behaviours intended to bully, threaten, or intimidate others.

Verbal Abuse

Reviews the occurrence of verbally abusive language, including insults, yelling and disrespectful remarks.

Online Harassment

Assesses the prevalence of harassment, bullying, or abuse conducted through digital channels like email, social media, or messaging platforms.

Why it matters: As work becomes more digital, protecting employees from online harassment is essential for maintaining a safe and respectful virtual environment.

Sexual Harassment

Reviews the awareness of and protection from inappropriate comments, advances and behaviours of a sexual nature.

Why it matters: Preventing sexual harassment is a critical legal and moral obligation that protects employees from trauma and risk.

Power Abuse

Measures the misuse of a person's positional authority or influence to exploit, control, or disadvantage others.

Why it matters: Abusing power undermines psychological safety, fairness and trust in leadership.

Emotional Manipulation

Identifies subtle forms of psychological abuse, such as gaslighting, guilt-tripping, or deliberate exclusion.

Why it matters: This insidious behaviour can severely undermine an individual's confidence, wellbeing and sense of reality.

Discrimination

Evaluates the occurrence of unfair treatment, prejudice, or bias based on an individual's identity or background.

Why it matters: Discrimination is illegal, damages diversity and inclusion efforts and prevents the organisation from benefiting from all its talent.
